An Impartial History of the War in America between Great Britain and Her Colonies From its Commencement to the End of the Year 1779

Hardcover, Norwalk, Connecticut: Easton Press, 2015. Fine. Easton Press facsimile of the first edition of Edmund Burke's history of the American Revolution from its causes until the end of 1779. Published anonymously, the book is widely credited to Burke by the Smithsonian, among other experts. The first edition was published in London in 1780. This facsimile edition reproduces the first edition in its entirety including the large fold-out map and the 13 illustrations of George Washington, John Hancock, etc. Burke was famously a conservative Member of Parliament who wished for peace and understood the colonists grievances. The text is essentially a compilation of reports and historical narratives printed in the Anual Register, which Burke edited and mostly wrote. Bound in full dark brown leather gilded page edges. Blank Easton Press bookplate on front pastedown. Comes in the Easton Press matching slipcase. A beautiful example of Easton's finest work. Fine/As New.
