Hardcover, Boston: Estes and Lauriat, 1893. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. Not dated, but known to be 1893. This is the illustrated "holliday editon" published by Estes and Lauriat that originally came in both a red protective dust jacket and a box. Nearly all copies on the market are missing both. This copy has the red protective dust jacket, but not the box. Although not credited in the book, the frontispiece of Lucile is by W. L. Taylor. The full page illustrations are photogravures of landscape photographs. All still have their tissue guards. Top page edges gilded. Minor age tonning to the pastedowns from the jacket flaps. Gentle bumps to both ends of spine. No previous owner marks. Binding very bright - dust jacket has done its job of keeping light off the book. Dust jacket has soiling and some shelf wear, but no tears - jacket is quite a bit thicker and sturdier than a normal jacket. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 284 pages. [Item #82766]
