Inscription reads "To Jeff - with deep gratitude to one of my true friends and readers, John Lukas. " Jeff (inscribee) was the editor of the Wilson Quarterly and was well known in both Buddhist and literary and historical circles. Laid into this book is a 3 and a half page typed manuscript by John Lukas titled "An Introduction." Across the top of it is a handwritten note from Lukas asking Jeff to please read the typescript and comment on it. The typescript contains Jeff's edits. Also laid in is an article Lukas wrote for American Heritage that Lukas signed across the top, it is cut out of the magazine. Book is in VG condition - spine is slightly slanted from having all those pages laid in. Minor soiling to top page edges.
