E. Shaw (Lawrence of Arabia) bound in full calf by Riviere. The book was designed by the noted book designer Bruce Rogers.

The second item is The Letters from T. E. Shaw to Bruce Rogers, this is one of 200 copies privately printed in 1933. It is signed and inscribed by Bruce Rogers to Sydney C Cockerell.

Sir Sydney was the director of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and was knighted in 1934. The Fitzwilliam is the Art & Antiquities Museum of Cambridge and Cockerell was there from 1908 to 1937 building up their collection of private press books, manuscripts, prints, drawings, and paintings.

The third item is More Letters from T. E. Shaw to Bruce Rogers and is one of 300 copies privately printed in 1936. It is also signed and inscribed by Rogers to Cockerell. Letters and More Letters are bound in flexible cloth covered boards and come in a shared slipcase. Letters and More Letters contain Lawrence's thoughts and opinions about The Odyssey project and the friendship between Lawrence and Rogers.

The Odyssey is bound in full tree calf by Riviere with marbled endpapers, gilded page edges, decorative borders, and red and green spine labels. It has a previous owner gift inscription on the first free endpaper dated Christmas, 1933. The front pastedown has the bookplate of John R Payne - retired professor at the University of Texas at Austin, T. E. Lawrence specialist, and perhaps the best rare book appraiser in Texas during his career. Very light wear to spine, otherwise Fine. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 327 pages. [Item #82743]
