Bell was one of the most successful hunters of African elephant in history, mostly due to his time in Karamoja. He hunted that area from 1902-1909 and famously wrote about his adventures in Wanderings of an Elephant Hunter (1923) and Karamoja Safari (1949).

This volume contains parts of Bell's previously unpublished diary writings including his drawings.

Although an edited autobiography of Bell was published after his death, Bell left a large amount of unpublished manuscripts behind. The foreword to this volume explains what those manuscripts contained and what the editor chose to publish in this book. This is copy #140 of 1,000 printed.
