He was a physician turned reporter turned major politician of the Third Republic. In his youth he covered the US Civil War and Reconstruction as a reporter. No previous owner marks. Text and illustrations clean. Spine gently bumped at both ends. Top page edges have moderate to heavy foxing. Dust jacket spine slightly faded. DJ has moderate edgewear, the most serious of which is five 1/4" tears to the top of the spine and front cover. Small chips and tears to bottom of spine. DJ now protected in Mylar.
