Inscription reads, "For Earl Vandale - with all good wishes Vardis Fisher". Earl Vandale was one of the most important collectors of Texas books and ephemera, eventually building one of the largest and most valuable collections of Texana in private hands. His collection is now part of the Barker Texas History Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Upon giving up his Texana collection to UT, Vandale immediately began building a new collection of Western Americana. I once owned the printed UT catalog of Vandale's Texana collection, made especially for Vandale himself. The catalog was huge. The Golden Rooms is a novel of prehistory. Book covers clean and bright. Both ends of spine gently bumped. Corners sharp. Moderate soiling and staining to side page edge. No highlighting or underlining. Text clean. Dust Jacket price clipped.
