This book is about Southern California, the lands between San Diego and Monterey and was written many years after she first arrived in California in 1888. By the time she wrote this book, Mary Austin believed SoCal had changed permanently for the worst. Previous owner name and stamp on front pastedown. Binding tight. Both ends of spine very gently bumped. Rear board is damaged at the top edge and a bit below with some loss of cloth, possibly caused by a rodent. Page edges slightly age soiled. Text is clean.
