Her husband died on their wedding day and a month later she woke up blind. Helen spent some time at the New York Institution for the Blind and learned to write across a page using a card for guidance. This book is presented as the true story of one of the blind children at the Institution, Little Jakey. Bound in brown cloth covered boards with gilt decoration. All page edges gilded. Contains an illustrated frontispiece and several other full page illustrations. Both ends of spine bumped, corners rubbed. Ships same or next business day. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 132 pages.
