This is the narrative only, the maps were published in a separate volume which I do not have. This volume contains the War Office's account of the Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882. In 1881 an Egyptian officer, Ahmed Urabi, lead an uprising of Egyptian and Sudanese troops against the nominal ruler of Egypt, Khedive Tewfik Pasha. The British intervened on Tewfik's behalf and first bombarded, and then invaded Egypt. This brief war gave Britain control of Egypt and the important Suez Canal for several decades.
