Hardcover, Trowbridge, England: Flicks Books, 1995. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. This is the 1995 Facsimile Reprint Edition - the original was published in 1901. Author was an inventor who worked with Thomas Edison and developed the first practical 35mm camera. He then went out on his own and developed a 68mm Biograph projector that showed moving pictures and founded a company to market Biograph movies and projectors worldwide. His new company sent him to South Africa to cover the Boer War on film, he was the most experienced cameraman alive. This book is about his experiences recording the Boer War on film as an unlicensed correspondent. Licensing was chaotic in that war and unlicensed correspondents could travel with the army, but were not given food for themselves or their horses. Dickson survived on voluntary handouts from kind officers and his struggles are included in the book. With many pages of photographs of the war. No previous owner marks.
