John Walker was a US Navy Chief Warrant Officer and communications specialist who was convicted of spying for the Soviet Union from 1968 to 1985. Senior Chief Petty Officer Jerry Whitworth and Walker's son, Seaman Michael Walker were also part of the ring. Vitaly Yurchenko, a former KGB officer who defected to the west, estimated that Walker helped the Soviets steal and decode more than a million US eletronic communications messages. Vurchenko felt the communications breach was so important that if there had been a US-USSR war at the time, the USSR would have won. No previous owner marks. PAge edges tanned.
