The author, Rev Dr. Michael Jacobs, was a Professor of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Pennsylvania College in Gettysburg. Much of the battle took place very near his own home. Dr. Jacobs was a meteorologist and had been taking weather measurements three times every day at Gettysburg for years before the battle. He continued taking measurements three times a day during the entire battle. Dr. Jacobs is the reason we know so much about the weather during the battle. This book is his eyewitness account of the Battle of Gettysburg. Boards a bit faded and soiled. Front gutter slightly cracked. Interior bright with the very occassional pencil mark. Light soiling to title page. Pages a bit wavy. Color fold-out map of the battle is present and is clean. Map has a 1.5 inch tear at the bottom and a very small tear in the top margin.
