To Have and Have Not was originally published by Scribner's in 1937. Hemigway wrote it between 1935 and 1937 when he was travelling between Cuba, Key West, and Spain during the Spanish Civil War. The book is set in Key West and Cuba during the 1930s and is influenced by the ideologies Hemingway came across during the war in Spain. This particular copy is unread. No previous owner marks. Illustrated by Richard Sparks. Easton Press luxury features include gilded page edges, moire endpapers, four raised bands on the spine, and a sewn-in satin bookmark.
