Born Rinchen Dolma Tsarong in Lhasa some sixty years before she wrote this book, the author comes from one of the oldest families in Tibet and grew up in the closely knit world of the Tibetan nobility. She was orphaned and at 13 was sent to an American school in India which she reached by riding a horse over the high mountain passes. Book covers clean except for one very small soil mark on front cover. Head of spine bumped. Top corners very gently bumped. Minor soiling to page edges. No previous owner marks.
