He was the leader of the Tories and supported the Church of England politically although he personally was against all religions and theologies. He supported the losing Jacobiute Rebellion and had to flee England, but was allowed to reverse his politics and return. Bound in half vellum with green pebbled cloth and a red leather spine label. Marbled endpapers. Boards bowed. Covers have minor soiling. Both ends of spine gently bumped. Corners sharp. Side and top page edges have minor soiling. Binding very strong and tight.
