Hardcover, London: J. M. Dent, 1907. Near Fine. Large paper signed limited edition bound in full vellum. Limited to 560 copies (500 for England and 50 for America, and presumably 10 held back for the publisher) . This is copy number 322 for England. SIGNED by Arthur Rackham on the limitation page. Contains a total of 102 Rackham illustrations: 24 coloured drawings on tipped in plates, 12 tinted illustrations, and 66 illustrations in the text.
According to Rackham's own Prefatory Note, the large paper edition is "a more important form" of the book "in which greater prominence could be given to the illustrations by better and larger reproductions, including a greater number of illustrations in colour." Rackham created 9 new illustrations for this edition and reconsidered and reworked many of the others, incuding all of the colour illustrations.
I've personally collated this book and all illustrations are present, bright, and beautiful. All 24 coloured tipped in drawings retain their guards and are very bright and completely clean.
The book's original tie is present which is unusual for this book. Front and rear covers clean and bright with just a little soiling. Spine a bit age tanned, gold decorations still bright.
Book comes in a custom red box provided by the previous owner. Box has a black and gold spine label and is VG+/NF. The custom box has done its job well and this book is beautiful and very well preserved. I welcome the chance to show it off with more photos, do not be shy in asking. Ships same or next business day very well packaged. Please note this is an oversized, thick, and heavy book in its own oversize custom box - Expedited/Priority Mail will require extra shipping charges in addition to the charges quoted by this site, International shipping will require significant and substaintial extra charges. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 549 pages; Signed by Illustrator.
