Newspaper clippings about author glued to front paste down and first two end papers. Previous owner inscriptions on front pastedown, first free end paper, and last free end paper. Previous owner numerical notations on rear pastedown. Ezra Meeker set out from Indianapolis to Chicago to the state of Washington in 1852. According to the newspaper clippings, at the age of 85 he drove the Oregon Trail again, only this time in a customized Pairie Schooner sporting a 12 cylinder gasoline engine. He was campaigning for better roads. This book is his account of the early days in Washington and Puget Sound. Head of spine bumped. Tail of spine rubbed. Corners rubbed and gently bumped.
