This edition includes 20 plates on 19 sheets, 5 of them in beautiful full color. Two volume complete set bound in half leather with marbled paper covered boards. Top page edges gilded. Alexander von Humboldt was the most famous scientist of his day. From 1799-1804 he explored Latin America including present day Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
