Galveston famously did not have a protective sea wall for the horrific 1900 hurricane. Construction on the new sea wall began in September, 1902 and the initial segment was complete on July 29, 1904. It would be continuously extended for the next 39 years. This book contains 20 pages of photographs, including a large fold-out panaroma photo of the newly rebuilt city. Parts of the new sea wall can be seen in several of the photos. Binding torn at tail of spine and at bottom front corner. Rubbing to front cover affecting the spine titles and photo on the cover.
