The Essex was designed by William Hackett and was a medium frigate. This book includes an introduction covering the historical background and building of the Essex as well as her career, particularly the period in which she effectively destroyed the British Pacific whaling fleet. The book includes more than 300 drawings and a section of photos of models. Book's binding is clean and bright with gentle bumping at both ends of spine.
