Published the same year the Mexican-American War ended, this book contains brief memoirs and adventures of some of the generals and colonels involved. Some of the officers included are: Taylor, Worth, Wool, Butler, May, Cross, Clay, Hardin, Yell, Hays. Colonel Hays is, of course, the famous Texas Ranger Captain - John "Jack" Coffee Hays, the man who taught the Rangers how to fight Comanches and who is still considered to be the greatest of all Ranger Captains. Contains portraits of the officers and illustrations and 12 pages of publisher's ads. Spine slightly slanted. Both ends of spine bumped with some loss of cloth. All corners rubbed with loss of cloth.
