Chushingura is the name given to fictional accounts of "the 47 Ronin" story in Japan. It is based on actual events in Tokugawa era Japan and is the most fictionalized story in Japanese history. In this book, Sakae Shioya, endeavors to bring us the story using deep historical research. The most famous of the Chushingura versions is a play and the author describes what he considers to be the most authentic version while also providing much historical context and facts about Tokugawa Japan. The first edition of this book was published in Tokyo in 1940 and lost when American bombing flattened and burned the country. This second edition was published in Tokyo in 1956. Book contains clean and beautiful illustrations. Dust jacket is bright with some minor soiling to back cover and minor edgewear except for a small tear with small missing piece at front bottom corner. Dust jacket protected in Mylar.
