She signed her name Tilly de la Mare which is the name she went by. De la Mare was the granddaughter of the poet Walter de la Mare and an elite scholar in her own right. She was a curator at the Bodleian Library and Chair of Palaeography at King's College London. She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy and appointed an Officer of the British Empire. The authors cataloged the Italian Manuscripts of famed bibliophile J. R. Abbey. Abbey's wealth came from his family's brewery. His books were sold after his death for nearly 1,000,000 GBP in the 1970s. Spine slightly slanted. Normal edge wear. Bumps on top corners. Small bumps on spine ends. Boards are gently curved. Light soiling to edges of pages. Spine cracked on back endpaper, partially cracked on front endpaper. Text is clean. Dust jacket is price-clipped. DJ has normal edge and shelf wear. Small creases and tears on corners and spine ends. 1/4-inch tear on spine tail. Slightly yellowed. Thin scratches on back cover. Faint red rubs on interior of jacket along spine.
