Bailey was born in India and became an officer in the Indian Army. He was later transferred to the Political Department and was one of the last major players of the Great Game. In 1918, Bailey was sent to Tashkent to spy on Bolshevik activity in Central Asia and to discover if they had designs on India. The British (and Americans) were actively interferring in the Russian Civil War against the Bolsheviks and Bailey barely escaped Tashkent with his life. No previous owner marks.
