When this book was published in 1944, the store had been in business for 75 years, was still owned by the Schreiner family, and had sales of more than 1 million dollars a year. With 18 illustrations by H. D. Bugbee. Printed by Carl Hertzog. Small label of previous bookseller on front pastedown. Small label of another previous bookseller on rear pastedown. Text and illustrations clean and bright. Minor wear to bottom edge of book, most noticeable at spine and corner. Dust jacket is G+ with several closed tears, especially to spine panel. There is also a 3.5 inch diagonal closed tear in front cover panel. All tears closed with tape applied on the inside of the dust jacket. Dust jacket has a piece missing from both ends of spine panel.
