This is a history of the Mexican state (later department) Coahuila Y Texas from 1821-1848. The author was a Mexican Army officer, leading historian, senator, and opposition party leader and revolutionary. The history covers Coahuila Y Texas from Mexican Independence from Spain in 1821 to the end of the Mexican-American War (Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo) in 1848. Coahuila Y Texas seceded from Mexico in the 1830s with Texas becoming the Republic of Texas and Coahuila joining with Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas to form the Republic of the Rio Grande. This work covers the history of Texas up to 1848, including early Anglo immigration, illegal Anglo immigration, the Texas Revolution, US Annexation, and the Mexican-American War. This listing is for both volumes of the two volume set. Volume 1 dated 1945, Volume 2 dated 1946, both First Editions. Volume 1 is 542 pages, Volume 2 is 540 pages.
