In the Valley of the Little Big Horn The 7th and the Sioux: June 25-26, 1876

Hardcover, North Hollywood, California: Beinfeld Publishing, 1978. Second Edition. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. This is the First Printing of the Beinfeld Publishing Edition which is actually the Second Edition. The true First Edition was self published by the author. The Beinfeld Edition is notablle for the extensive annotations by Colonel Edward Offley. Colonel Offley was a US Cavalry Sergeant and then Officer who served with many men who had served with Custer. Although Offley was born two years after Little Big Horn, he was born into a military (Cavalry) family and grew up hearing about Custer and later served with veterans of the 7th. Offley obtained a copy of the First Edition of this title and extensively annotated it in blue pen in the margins. He sent the annotated book to the author who was impressed and asked the Colonel to please write a Preface to the Second Edition. Colonel Offley did so and then died two days after completing it. The Second Edtion (this book) includes the original text by Kain, Offley's Preface, and Offley's extensive annotations (printed in blue and designed to look as much like his original handwritten margin annotations and underling as possible). This book attempts to stick to the known facts and avoids legends. It contains what is believed to be the most accurate list of those killed in action at the battle. No previous owner marks. --the blue annotations and underling are meant to be there and were printed by the publisher. Interior is clean and bright. Spine very slightly tilted. Dust Jacket is bright with minor soiling and minor shelf wear. Soiling most noticeable on spine panel. . Dust Jacket now protected in Mylar. Ships same or next business day. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 117 pages. [Item #70830]
