Bound in publisher's brown zebra stripped cloth with pictorial endpapers. Previous owner name dated May 29th, 1940 on front pastedown. Spine slightly slanted, light age spotting to covers, moderate wear to edges. This was the best selling non-fiction book of 1940. It is Osa Johnson's autobiography in which she discusses her childhood in Kansas, marriage to Martin Johnson, and their travels around the world. Among other places they traveled to Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, British North Borneo, Kenya, Egypt, and the Belgian Congo. In 1933 and 1934 they flew the length of Africa filming now classic aerial scenes of wildlife. They were the first pilots to fly over Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya and to film those mountains from the air. One of their movies was the first sound film to ever be shown on an airline flight.
