Life of Tom Horn Government Scout and Interpreter Written by Himself Together with His Letters and Statements by His Friends a Vindication

Hardcover, Denver, Colorado: The Louthan Book Company (For John C Coble), 1904. First Edition. Very Good. Hardback in early 20th century custom half leather binding with marbled paper covered boards and marbled endpapers. Top page edges gilded. Binding by C. Reilly and Co of New York. Thirteen full page illustrations. Tom Horn was believed to have killed 17 people including 14 year old Willie Nickel, for which crime he was hanged in Cheyenne. He supposedly wrote this book in prison, but it may have been written by others, perhaps his boss and publisher John C Coble. Horn was a scout in the Apache wars, cowboy, Pinkerton agent, and range detective. The book is an attempt to vindicate his crimes. Text clean, illustrations bright. A bit of edgewear to the binding. Ships same or next business day well protected in a box. Please ask if you'd like to see additional photos of the book. Six-Guns#1033.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 317 pages. [Item #77100]
